What is Train the Gastroscopy Trainer?

This two‑day course is essential for independent endoscopists involved in teaching and training in gastroscopy. It brings participants up to date with the latest approaches to teaching, training theory and educational practice.

All applicants based in Scotland must have completed Upper GI Best Practice and be currently involved in endoscopy training.

Day 1: is classroom‑based and includes a mix of theory, group discussion and practical exercises.
Day 2: provides the opportunity to apply this learning in a clinical environment, with support and performance‑enhancing feedback from one of our national trainers

  • NETP Training Centre, NHS Golden Jubilee
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for:
  • Independent endoscopists involved in teaching and training in gastroscopy

It may also be appropriate for senior accredited trainees who wish to further develop their teaching skills.

The course is essential for those who wish to:

  • Become faculty at endoscopy training centres
  • Deliver or support JAG‑accredited courses
  • Improve their day‑to‑day training skills and get the best from learners

Applicants must be independent and competent in the skills they intend to train in before applying.

Please note: This course is not designed to improve procedural skills. Its focus is on developing trainer competencies and teaching skills.
